- Gender horizontal segregation in vocational education and on the labor market.
Karat Coalitions has continued its interest in the issue of traditional career choices of girls and women. The research on a situation of girls attending the basic vocational schools and the consequences of their educational choices for their economic situation later in life was conducted in 2015. The research showed that the vocational schools as well as the labor market are highly gender segregated. These have negative consequences on economic situation of women and might significantly influence the economic growth of the country.
The results of the research have been published in two reports „Vocational schools and the labour market for women with basic vocational education. Report from a study conducted in 2015″, and „Pay gap between women and men with basic vocational education. An analysis of the statistical data concerning the labour market, pay disparities and the opinions of the female respondents in 2015″.
In 2017 there was an international initiative to analyze the consequences of gender horizonal segregation of the labor market in 4 Vishegrad countries: Poland, Czech, Slovakia and Hungary. The results of the Polish research are presented in the report „Segregacja pozioma kobiet i mężczyzn na rynku pracy. Przedstawienie zjawiska na podstawie danych statystycznych i badań Stowarzyszenia Koalicja Karat”.
The initiative has been finalized with the international Policy Paper aimed at the decision-makers of the four contries. You can read the Policy Paper HERE.
