PROCURE IT FAIR
campaign for sustainable purchasing of computers
ProcureITfair is a coalition of NGOs from various European countries that intend to raise awareness on the working conditions and environmental pollution in the production of computers and asks politicians and public purchasers to use their (buying) powers to demand compliance with international labour rights and ecological standards in the global supply chain of computers.
KARAT’s role in the project involves organising two paralel researches on working conditions and environmental pollution in computer hardware factories in Hungary as well as Romania. KARAT will also assist in organising Speaker's Tour.
Main project activities include: publications, research, raising public awareness and political lobbying on purchasing practices. This project is part of KARAT’s programmes: Economic Justice and Gender & Development.
The project Procure IT fair has started in 2008 and will last until the end of 2010. It is implemented in cooperation with partners from Germany (WEED) and Czech Republic (Ekumenicka Akademie Praha).
