Regional dialogue

Will take place in Warsaw on May 12-13 2010, with the specific objective to increase participants’ capacities on gender and development through learning, exchange of experience, dialogue and networking. The event will bring together women’s organizations from the project’s countries, representatives from Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe, and gender and development NGOs & networks from the old EU MSs.

These four events to be held in 2011 will be the ground work of the project at national level on which greater regional and EU-wide constituency-building will grow in the regional dialogues and EU-wide events.

Public events

They will be hold on a key or topical gender and development issue to coincide with national dialogues in Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the regional dialogue in Poland. Public events will take full advantage of the visits of representatives from SSA women’s organisations and other dialogue participants from the other countries.


Production and dissemination of awareness raising materials

Awareness raising material (i.e. Briefing on NMS Development Co-operation, Briefing on EU gender and development Policy, media briefings ) targeting specific groups will be produced and disseminated in order to increase awareness about importance of women’s rights and gender equality to development cooperation in NMS.

Research on NMS development co-operation in practice

This will be commissioned in the second year of the project implementation with the aim to produce case studies on NMS development cooperation programmes in practice (likely to be Poland and the Slovak Republic) in 2 partner countries of Sub-Saharan Africa. The case studies will support advocacy work in project’s countries by providing concrete evidence and information of how policy commitments are being translated into action.

Conference in Brussels

This will be the culminating event of the project. The event is planned for 2012.
