Current projects -> Through their eyes... -> Data gathering tours -> Toolkit “Gender Mainstreaming in Development Cooperation” by Mila Lukasova from Czech Republic
Mila’s tool created on the basis of the materials collected during data gathering tour to Georgia aims to increase gender capacity of the NGO’s in New Member States. Examples from Georgia are used in it extensively, however, the Toolkit itself is not related specifically to the situation in Georgia but is more a general tool for gender mainstreaming in development projects. Mila had an opportunity in Georgia to test the tools (Gender Checklists for projects etc.) that she then included them in the Toolkit.

The Toolkit consist of concrete examples of the process of mainstreaming gender into a project. The examples follow the recommendations from the Policy Paper Strategy of Mainstreaming Gender into the Czech Development Cooperation concerning the project cycle from a gender perspective. Emphasis is given to the gender analysis of poverty and understanding of the gender dimension of the situation before any development project is designed, and subsequently, concrete examples will be provided on each phase of the project cycle (planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation).

The toolkit can have great role in mobilizing public support in New Member States for gender-sensitive strategies and policies for development as it shows how to incorporate gender in development project in practice.

The toolkit in Czech language is available here and in English here.
